Hi there! I’m Sammy and I’m an Aussie living in London. I created this blog to show, first of all, that vegan cuisine is easy and delicious! I also wanted to show to everyone what it is exactly that I do eat, as one of the first questions that I get when someone discovers that I am a vegan is; ‘So what DO you eat?’ I want the recipes to be simple and quick as I know many of us do not have the time or patience to wait for good, healthy and yummy food!
I went vegan overnight almost five years ago and it is the best decision I have ever made. I noticed in only a few short months that my health had improved dramatically (I lost weight, my skin cleared up and I had so much more energy) and so another aspect of my recipes will be that they focus mainly on whole plant foods and I try to limit the use of processed foods. This, you will see, is no problem whatsoever as the power of plants truly is mighty and I do not feel like I am limited in any way. In fact, I don’t think I have ever eaten so much food and so many different varieties of produce in my life!
I work full time for the UK government (I’m not a spy or anything;)), on a bit of a weightlifting journey and I have a fluffy black miniature lion to take care of so you should find that most of my recipes are not only simple and do not utilise a magnitude of strange ingredients but they are also quick and inexpensive to make! They also do not consist only of mung beans! The name of the blog came to mind because before I changed my lifestyle, I had this ridiculous idea that vegans only ate mung beans – boy was I wrong. Anyway, once I actually tried them, I was hooked, in a big way. I find them to be like little miracle beans that are cheap, nutritional and amazing just with a little olive oil and salt! But do not fear, they will not feature often in the recipes…much…maybe. So please take a look around and enjoy! Never mind about that little black lion that will pop up here and there, I am rather obsessed with taking photos of him! 🙂
